In order to further enrich the lives of residents in Lamin Koto and Gambia, we started the Kuntaur Film Festival. With children at the forefront of the festival experience, we focus on sharing educational and classical films from all over the globe to expose residents to new cultures and broaden their opportunities. As part of the festival’s mission, we aim to connect global film communities and provide a platform for emerging talent throughout Gambia and West Africa.
In 2010, upon our visit to West Africa, we recognized a unique opportunity to further the work of Ithaka Films in pursuit of bettering and immersing ourselves. In Gambia’s village of Lamin Koto by the Gambian River we recognized the lack of educational infrastructure, prompting us to build a school from scratch. With the support of our team and the local community, a functioning school now exists that proudly serves over 100 children.
